Dr. A. Anbarasu is considered one of the best radiologists. He is the best teacher for clinical radiology. He has published over 30 articles in top medical journals, including books and book chapters. Giving verbal presentations of imaging and diagnostic radiology across India and other countries. He was also the chief organizer of conferences on radiology and imaging held across India.

He gives training and education to radiologists, technologists, and students. Also runs high-quality teaching courses and conferences.

He held important positions at the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire. He was a consultant radiologist, Royal College clinical tutor, joint clinical director, and the lead clinician for MRI. He was awarded six Clinical Excellence Awards by the NHS, UK. They were for his contributions to teaching, management, research, and paper publications. He has published 21 peer-reviewed papers and 33 posters. He has been an invited speaker for over 100 courses and conferences.

He was awarded the Rohan Williams Gold Medal in the FRCR Final. He was awarded the D’Monte Prize for a Diploma in Medical Radiology (DMRE). He also got six Clinical Excellence Awards (CEA) during my career as a consultant at University Hospital Coventry, and many more.

Past life

Dr. A. Anbarasu completed his medical studies at Stanley Medical College (1985 batch). He got his MD in Radio diagnosis. He also got a DNB in Radio diagnosis and DMRE (Gold Medal) at LTM Medical College & Sion Hospital.

He was inspired by the great teachers of his time. He started teaching as a second year registrar. Then, he became a lecturer at Sion Hospital. Some of his inspiring teachers include Prof S Merchant, Prof Om Tavri, Prof Mukund Joshi, Prof Ravi Ramakanthan, and Dr Bhavin Jankharia.

He stayed at Hammersmith Hospital with Prof David Cosgrove. Then, he took a higher job in Liverpool Mersey Region. He got the University of Liverpool’s DMRD while working under Prof. R. Whitehouse.

During the 1999 final FRCR exam, he won the Rohan Williams Gold Medal. It's given by the Royal College of Radiologists. He also got the Cook Travelling Fellowship from the RCR. He did it at Massachusetts General Hospital & Harvard Medical School, Boston.

Academic ongoing work

Dr. A. Anbarasu organized the Coventry FRCR course from 2005–2007. He also organized FRCR courses in Mumbai and Chennai from 2006 onwards. In the same year, he started a chest X-ray review course in India. He also started a practical spine MRI course in India in 2006. Since 2009, he has organized international conferences on MSK/Neuro CT/MRI, Radiology Physics, and Imaging Anatomy.

He is also an international journal peer reviewer for the British Journal of Radiology & Indian Journal of Radiology & Imaging. He is also an associate editor for ‘Imaging’ (published by British Institute of Radiology).
